The South Asia Collective

The South Asia Collective is a group of human rights activists and organizations that documents the condition of minorities across South Asia. Its 2024 State of Minorities report scores 4.19, Deficient. Across 420 pages and eight editions, the report has never included a limitations section — the part where researchers are supposed to explain what their study cannot prove and where its methods fall short. Sixty-four percent of quantitative claims present percentages without telling readers the sample size behind them. For example, a reader might see '38% reported discrimination' but have no way to know whether that is 38% of 50 people surveyed or 50,000. Without that context, the numbers look more precise than they actually are.
